Market Study

As part of our long-term partnership with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), we were entrusted with the task of preparing a comprehensive report on the regulatory landscape surrounding Non-Geostationary Satellite Orbit (NGSO) constellations.

The report covers current satellite constellations, their technology, and the challenges and chances ahead. The rise of these constellations brings up new issues for regulators at different levels – country, region, and worldwide. This includes dealing with radio signals and Earth orbits, making rules to save these natural resources, and managing a trouble-free environment for current and future generations. While these constellations help with global connections, safety, and emergencies, they also bring up concerns about keeping space sustainable, controlling space traffic, using radio signals wisely, and reducing space junk.

The report also evaluates the dynamic landscape of satellite telecommunications technology, providing regulators with insights into how these advancements may require adaptation of the regulatory frameworks.

Published in October 2023, ahead of the World Radio Conference 2023 (WRC-23) scheduled in Dubai, the report serves as a timely resource for industry stakeholders, policymakers, and regulatory bodies. To access the full report, visit the ITU website here. This publication underscores our commitment to thought leadership and our dedication to fostering informed discussions in the ever-evolving realm of telecommunications and space regulation.
