Strascend has been mandated by Safran Passenger Innovation to provide support for the type approval certification of their HBC+ system.
The mission brought together Safran but also leading partners—Viasat, SES, and Airbus—to deliver next-generation high-bandwidth connectivity (HBC+) to commercial aviation.
HBC+ is a step forward in in-flight connectivity, designed to meet the growing demand for faster, more reliable onboard internet. The mission focused on coordinating technical validation, compliance, and cross-organizational efforts to secure type approval—ensuring the system meets regulatory standards and is ready for integration on Airbus platforms. It also included planning and execution of test flights onboard Airbus’s A350 MSN02 test aircraft, and coordination with French regulatory authorities, such as DGAC and ARCEP.
It’s been a privilege to contribute to a project that helps shape the future of connected flight—bringing more flexibility to airlines and improving the passenger experience.
